Shametra McGregor was born and raised in Austin, Texas. She believes there can never be a testimony without a test.
“Through life adversities I learned to express my deepest most inner thoughts in my diary," she says of her writing philosophy. "When I needed comfort pen and paper became my best friends. During a recent restoration period I discovered how healing presented itself, forgiveness became available and faith has been restored.”
Strength, love, and peace are the qualities that Shametra derives from writing poetry. She decided long ago not to become a victim of circumstance and in taking on this philosophy; she found total happiness through an intimate relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Shametra’s first poem was entitled, "Grass". Daily she is reminiscent about this poem, which she wrote while sitting in the lush, green grass. Her next accomplishment was having her self-entitled poem, “Momma’s love” published in “Tower of Faith” in 2003. During her journey, Shametra has become a mentor, and has sought to inspire and touch the hearts of those she encounters. Shametra McGregor published her first book, “Chronicles of a Mended Heart” with Author House in June 2008 after eight years of research and continuously writing until the wee hours of the night. Shametra says, “It’s so funny, I can recall times when I would pull over on a side street, because I had a poem in my head and I had to get it on paper.” Since then Shametra has been networking with other writers and finally stepping to the mic. Shametra finds so much joy volunteering in her community. Being naturally studious, she is interested in a factual understanding of the mysteries of life. Through her journey she seeks to encourage and love others. Welcome to Nellsreflecton.
